| The YWCA Thrift Shop
The YWCA Thrift Shop is an Op Shop staffed by YWCA Brisbane volunteers for the benefit the community. We provide very low cost and pre-loved clothing as well as a friendly support for traditionally marginalized members of the local community. Volunteers get to engage with customers, foster caring relationships with people in need, and provide a place where customers and clients feel valued. All proceeds from the Thrift Shop are put back into YWCA Brisbane to provide funding for programming and services. The Thrift Shop is home to YWCA Brisbane programs like Speak and Leadership offering alternative ways the community can work together to create a better world. The shop provides a place of belonging where the misfortunate and helpless can find relief, friendship and solace, where young people can access mentoring, learn coping strategies and build skills necessary for overcoming obstacles in their lives, and a place where caring people can give part of themselves to others. We are always looking for three things:
Come and be a part of our family, and play a bigger part in the local community. All volunteers are supported and go through an induction process. Find value in the Thrift Shop and in YWCA Brisbane programs and services. YWCA Thrift Shop 51 Sherwood Avenue, Clements Arcade Toowoong, Brisbane |
